Who we are

City Travel Stats (“we,” “us,” the “site”) is an independent travel-safety research project. You can reach us at gregory.terlecki@gmail.com, or through our contact page. This policy applies to this website only, and not to any third-party sites we link to.

Information we collect

We do not run user accounts, and we do not ask you to provide personal information to browse the site. The limited data involved falls into three buckets:

• Server and CDN logs. Like almost all websites, our host (Cloudflare) automatically records standard technical information when you load a page — such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the time of the request. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and understanding aggregate traffic.
• Information you choose to send us. If you use the feedback form to request a city or report a data problem, we receive what you type (for example, the city name, your message, and any email address you include). We use it only to triage and act on your request.
• Advertising and cookie data. Our third-party advertising partner may collect data through cookies and similar technologies, as described below.

Cookies and advertising

City Travel Stats displays advertising served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and, where permitted, to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings; doing so will not stop you from using the site, though you may still see non-personalised ads.

The feedback form

Our feedback form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused tool that helps us tell humans from bots without traditional CAPTCHAs. Submissions are turned into tracked issues that we triage. We use the information you send only to respond to and act on your request, and we don’t sell it or use it for marketing.

How we use information

• To operate, secure, and maintain the website.
• To understand aggregate traffic and improve the content.
• To respond to feedback, corrections, and city requests you send us.
• To display advertising that helps fund the project.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not build user profiles or run our own tracking analytics beyond the log and advertising data described above.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live — for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act — you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold very little personal data and no accounts, the main controls available to you are:

• Managing or blocking cookies through your browser settings.
• Opting out of personalised ads via the links in the “Cookies and advertising” section above.
• Contacting us at gregory.terlecki@gmail.com to ask about, correct, or delete any information you’ve sent us.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, advertising cookies that require consent will be handled in line with applicable consent requirements.

Children’s privacy

This site is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Third-party links

Every figure on the site links out to its original source, and we link to other external resources. We aren’t responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites; their own policies apply once you leave City Travel Stats.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as legal requirements change. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced individually.
