Its homicide rate is 0.9 per 100,000, a figure we calculated ourselves from a raw count and a population, and about 0.6 times the median for the cities we track. Recorded robbery is 26.6 per 100,000; that number is police data, which counts only reported incidents, so read it as a floor. All four governments we track hold Bulgaria at their lowest advisory level, and each advisory that covers the country names pickpocketing and scams aimed at visitors. Resident sentiment runs cooler than the crime figures suggest: in a city-level survey, 47.7% said they feel safe walking alone after dark, a lower share than the score alone would imply.
