That number covers the wider metro area and was calculated by us from a count and a population, so read it as an upper bound rather than a precise local figure. Robbery is recorded at 37.3 per 100,000, also for the metro, and police data counts only the incidents people report, so the real total runs somewhat higher. All four governments we track hold Austria at their lowest advisory level. The advisories that cover the country still note petty crime and flag pickpocketing and scams for visitors. We do not hold a resident-perception survey for Salzburg.
