The safety picture

A plain-language read of the sourced figures below

Prague reaches 100 out of 100 in our composite index, the top of the scale and among the safest cities we score.

The underlying figures hold up on a close read. Its homicide rate is 0.7 per 100,000, about 0.4 times the median for the cities we track, reported for the city and calculated by us from a raw count and a population. Recorded robbery is 13.1 per 100,000, also at the city level; police data captures only reported incidents, so the real level is somewhat higher. Three governments we track, the US, Canada, and the UK, all hold Czechia at their lowest advisory level, though their guidance still flags pickpocketing and scams for visitors. In a city-level survey, 60.7% of residents said they feel safe walking alone at night, a more moderate reading than the crime figures alone would suggest.

The radar shows the three sourced, comparable risk measures (homicide, robbery, the strictest travel-advisory level). Tourist petty-crime signals are a different kind of measure — how often advisories mention them — so they are shown as rows under Tourist-specific incidents, not as radar axes.
