The crime figures are reported at city level. Homicide is 0.8 per 100,000, roughly 0.5 times the median for the cities we track, and recorded robbery is 10.8 per 100,000; both were calculated by us from a count and a population, and the robbery figure, from police records, undercounts because it captures only reported incidents. All four governments we track hold Hungary at their lowest advisory level. In a city survey, 58.2% of residents said they feel safe walking alone after dark, a figure well below what the low recorded-crime rates might lead you to expect. Advisories for Hungary also name pickpocketing and scams that target visitors.
